Fund information

PowerShares FTSE RAFI Canadian Fundamental Index Class

Investment Philosophy

The Fund seeks to replicate the FTSE RAFI Canada Index, net of fees and expenses, and is designed to provide broad exposure to the Canadian stock market. The Index weights companies within the universe using fundamental factors rather than market capitalization. These factors include dividends, cash flow, sales and book value.

Why invest in this fund

  • The Fund invests using RAFI's proprietary methodology of weighting stocks by fundamental factors rather than market capitalization. These factors include dividends, cash flow, sales and book value. By using fundamental factors rather than prices to weight stocks, the Index takes advantage of price movements by reducing the holdings that have risen relative to other constituents and increasing holdings in companies whose price has fallen behind
  • The Fund offers many of the advantages of ETFs as well as lower fees than traditional mutual funds
  • The Fund is part of a mutual fund corporation, offering investors in non-registered accounts additional tax benefits, as switches to other funds within the corporation can be made without triggering capital gains

Notice to users regarding commissions and funds:

Commissions, trailing commissions, management fees and expenses all may be associated with mutual fund investments. Unless otherwise indicated, rates of return for periods greater than one year are historical annual compound total returns including changes in unit or share value and reinvestment of all distributions, and do not take into account any sales, redemption, distribution or optional charges or income taxes payable by any security holder that would have reduced returns.

Mutual funds unlike GICs are not guaranteed and are not covered by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation or by any other government deposit insurer. Their values change frequently and past performance may not be repeated. In the case of a money market fund there can be no assurances that the fund will be able to maintain its net asset value per security at a constant amount or that the full amount of your investment in the fund will be returned to you.
